It’s Time is Upbeat and Romantic to its Core

It’s Time by FRANCK RAPP is the perfect summer acid jazz anthem, injecting the listener with excitement about the future of love. The ‘time’ in the title refers to the right moment to find love. The track’s foundations are that tentative emotional rise. There is a sense of excited waiting drawn out of the track in both the narrative and the sonic execution. The introduction, for example, is quite long for such an energetic disco track.

This choice felt symbolic of anticipation and the excitement of waiting for love to happen. That level of connection between the sonic tapestry of the track and the narrative it is trying to convey demonstrates impressive cohesion from the writing to the performance to the mix.

The piano playing is also a fantastic way of introducing the fundamentals of the melody and the energy the track is leading with. Familiarizing the listener with those elements with this one feature, alone in the mix, allows the listener’s full attention to be on each sonic evolution. This choice also allows FRANCK RAPP to gauge how much of the track he wants to give away at any time, again, leading back to this theme of waiting for the right moment.

When the track does flourish, there is this palpable sense of release. The pent-up energy of the introduction explodes out through the bouncy bass and hiss of the rhythm element. This jump feels consistent, like a natural evolution of the song’s timbre. The bass is a standout element throughout the song. This aspect contrasts the rhythm, melody, and timbre, allowing the high-register vocals to pop against its opposing canvas.

The vocals have this ethereal, breathy, sun-bleached quality. Their timbre also matches the song’s positive, upbeat, and hopeful themes. It feels like there is a sense of conviction behind each word. This belief makes the track that much more intoxicating to listen to.

‘It’s Time’ is a fun summer anthem. Its bright, upbeat message feels authentic to the core.
