On the Move Remix Is Eighties-Inspired Disco Fun

On the Move Remix by ADIK ANGEL captures an addictive rhythmic energy that defines its sound as unique and electric. With roots in electronic disco and a vintage eighties-inspired sound, this track combines its influences to create a tune that suits the dancefloor as well as it does a long road trip.

The sampling is the first thing that stood out to me over the course of the song. Starting with these ethereal trills that contrast the depth of the rhythm, the vocals guide the melody and provide a throughline for the audience to understand the track’s tone. Their sparse placement elevates their effect. You feel every word and the mix allows for that position and clarity by dropping out through certain sections. That ebb and flow of the track from beginning to end emphasises the control the producer has over his mix and the vision ANGEL went into this remix with. The track has a rich and diverse tapestry of sound especially in the rhythmic elements. It has high register hisses that feel reminiscent of the eighties influences at the track’s core but it also has a deep booming bass underneath it. This element is given context through the hiss of the high register rhythm and the two bounce off each other providing beautiful counter rhythms that add depth to the song overall. These attributes manage to communicate the rhythm and the melodic texture of the track at the same time. The melody is also added to by eighties-inspired synths that bounce up and down as the song evolves. They work nicely with the depth of the booming bass and provide melodic exploration in the sections where there are no vocals.

Overall, I’m impressed with the textural diversity on display with this track. It delivers a retro disco atmosphere with a modern flair that deserves a listen from any electronic or disco fan.

A Different Kind

A Different Kind by Social Gravy does the impossible by creating a project that delivers on a deep, emotionally resonant meaning while also having a catchy tune that appeals as much on the first listen as it does on the thirty first. If anything, this project ages like fine wine. Different tones and texture become […]
