Not Giving In by LUDWIG JONSSON is an exciting but deeply poignant track about standing up for yourself, especially in the face of the distortion and noise we face daily. The guitar was the factor that made me fall for the track at the start. It has a crunchy distortion and bold execution that injects the song with energy from beginning to end. The fuzzy timbre becomes part of the track’s sound, portraying the chaos and anger at the core of this song’s DNA.

The vocals are another strong element, leading the track from the front with the guitar. Together they create this beautiful juxtaposition and contrast that elevates each aspect individually. The crunchy confidence of the distorted guitar elevates the charismatic and bold crispness of the vocals. The delivery is clear and fierce, with each word given emphasis and intensity. The song also uses silence in a very intelligent way, with a quiet opening and a long period of total silence before the guitars come in. JONSSON uses the quiet to emphasise the power of the guitar. This is a very difficult technique to use. This suggests a level of maturity and understanding between the producer and artists. This also shows the variety JONSSON has access to in his vocal range, the softer intro feels natural and intimate while the choruses feel intense and confident. The drums are another strong aspect, providing a structure for the melody. The drumming pushes the pace at every opportunity, injecting the track with energy and boosting the power of the guitars with its contrasting timbre. Every element of this track elevates the other. It comes across to the listener as one cohesive wall of sound, confidently proclaiming its message as it washes over you. It’s a deeply immersive listening experience that conveys infectious energy.

Overall, this track is an exciting and confident rock banger that keeps the listener engaged from beginning to end. Check it out below!

A Different Kind by Social Gravy does the impossible by creating a project that delivers on a deep, emotionally resonant meaning while also having a catchy tune that appeals as much on the first listen as it does on the thirty first. If anything, this project ages like fine wine. Different tones and texture become […]
